Technology

Your enjoyable dental experience depends on your comfort and safety. Dr. McCall and his team utilize the latest technological advances in dental equipment and techniques to ensure your satisfaction with your visit and your continued excellent health.

Digital Radiograph (Digital X-Rays)

Digital radiographs are a technological advancement that results in less exposure to radiation for our patients and an almost instantaneous picture for Dr. McCall. Unlike traditional, film-based X-rays, digital X-rays often show more detail and can be archived in our system for future reference and comparison. You will appreciate a more comfortable visit and a quicker treatment, with less waiting.

Digital Impressions

Taking an impression of your teeth and gums is, many times, vital to your dental procedure. Advances in technology have made this procedure more reliable, faster, and much more comfortable. Gone are the days of trays full of goo. Now, a scan of your mouth is all it takes to get an impression taken.

Snoring

If you or a loved one snores, you are likely aware that snoring often causes sleepless nights. Severe snoring may also be a sign of a more serious problem like sleep apnea. Sleep apnea occurs when an individual stops breathing for an extended period of time during sleep. Snoring happens when the soft palate relaxes to the point of cutting off the airway. Snore appliances are designed to comfortably hold the airway open during sleep. There are a wide variety of snore appliances available to you. Let Dr. McCall select the right one that fits your needs.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a breathing disorder characterized by interruptions of the normal breathing cycle during periods of sleep. These interruptions can sometimes occur hundreds of times during a night’s sleep and can last up to a minute or more. Sleep apnea is a common condition, affecting over 12 million Americans. Those most commonly affected by sleep apnea include individuals who are:

  • Male
  • Obese
  • 40+ years of age
  • Users of alcohol
  • People with neck sizes over 17”

However, sleep apnea can and does affect many other people as well, including; women, children, and people of average weight. Left untreated, sleep apnea can cause cardiovascular difficulties, headaches, memory problems, difficulty concentrating, impotence, or weight gain. In severe cases, this condition can be potentially life-threatening and can lead to irregular heartbeat, heart attack, or stroke.

At McCall Dental Studio, we provide treatment for patients with obstructive sleep apnea by creating removable oral appliances,  or splints), which are worn by sleep apnea sufferers at night to help ensure that the upper airway stays open. With these custom-tailored appliances, we can successfully treat most mild to moderate cases of obstructive sleep apnea without the necessity for surgical treatment. These appliances have proven to be highly effective at reducing snoring.

Intra Oral Camera

An intraoral camera lets you see inside your mouth during both treatment planning and during dental procedures. Our intraoral camera displays your teeth on a video screen, allowing Dr. McCall to walk you through your proposed treatment. The use of this camera allows us to work with you as a team to meet your dental care goals. We are happy to answer any questions you may have and to discuss your treatment options with you. We want you to picture how your appearance will improve with dental care, giving you all the more reason to smile.

Digital Photography

Digital photography gives Dr. McCall instant images to use for cosmetic imaging or to keep on file to track your progress. Digital images can be electronically saved and are more efficient than traditional photographs that show less detail and that must be taken off-site for development.

Pain Management/Trigger Point Injections

Injection of trigger points with a local anesthetic is a relatively simple, cost-effective treatment that often produces an almost immediate decrease in pain. In addition, it can provide long-term pain relief and increased range of motion, thereby enabling patients to resume normal activities.

While a trigger point injection can be performed as a stand-alone treatment, it is important to note that these injections achieve the best results for patients when they are combined with other treatment options. This treatment is a reliable solution for patients experiencing myofascial pain and can help provide relief in many cases of TMJ. Trigger point injections are also viable for patients experiencing chronic headaches and are are able to reduce both their severity and their frequency.
